ＮＨＫの番組「プロフェッショナル 仕事の流儀」を、ほぼ毎週欠かさず見ている、岸です。
毎回、見終わった後、熱いものが目頭と脳の中に滲みます。時に、頬を伝うことも。
先週の日曜日、その番組でパーソナリティを務める脳科学者の茂木健一郎さんと比叡山延暦寺の大阿闍梨（だいあじゃり）酒井雄哉（さかい ゆうさい）師の対談イベントが名古屋（伏見）であり、参加してきました。
そのイベントは「対談」という形式でしたが、茂木さんは専ら聴き手にまわり、酒井雄哉師がそれに応えながら話をするというスタイルで進みました。さながら 「プロフェッショナル 仕事の流儀」を生（ライブ）で見ているような雰囲気です。所要時間は、２時間。いつもの番組の２回分です。
酒井師といえば、昨年秋に出版された「一日一生」（朝日新書）が１５万部を超えるベストセラーとなり、既に新聞や雑誌などで紹介記事を目にすることも多く、時の人という印象があります。
僕も常時この本を携帯しています。何度も読み通しました。（特に信仰心が篤いわけではないのですが）
酒井師は、７年かけて地球一周分の距離を歩く「千日回峰行」という難行を２回続けて満行（まんぎょう）するという快挙を成し遂げられました。今回の対談は、その様子を撮ったＤＶＤの上映から始まりました。まさしく、「プロフェッショナル」のようです！
本の中にも行（ぎょう）の話が出てきます。１０００日もの間、毎日毎日比叡山中（最後の年は京都市内も）を１日に３０ｋｍから多い時は８５ｋｍもの距離を歩くそうです。途中、その行の７００日を終えたところで、「堂入り」と呼ばれる行があります。これがまた、実に凄まじい。
９日間、お堂の中で、断食、断水、不眠、不臥（ふが）でお経を１０万回唱えるという荒行中の荒行です。本には書かれていないですが、”生き葬式”という別名もあるそうで、実際に何人もの修行僧が命を落としているようです。酒井師は、これを２回経験されたということです。
茂木さんの「どうして、そんなに厳しい修行をやろうと思ったのですか？」という質問に、「やることがなかったから」と、恬淡としつつも、少しはにかみながら、そう話される酒井師の素の表情がとても印象的でした。
１９２６年生まれで今年８３歳になられる酒井師は、お寺で生まれ育ったわけではなく、４０歳近くまで市井の人（という言い方も変ですが）でした。
比叡山に行かれるまでの半生は、決して恵まれたものではなかったようです。戦時中ご自身が鹿児島の特攻隊基地に配属され死に瀕する経験をされたり、父親と始めたラーメン屋が火事（放火？）で無くなったり、結婚して２ヵ月で奥さんを亡くされたりと、波乱万丈という言葉だけでは言い表すことのできない不遇な目に幾度も遭ってこられたようです。たぶん、ご本人は、さほど「不遇」とは思われていないと思いますが。
そのようにして生きてこられ、厳しい荒行も経験された方の話だからなのか、あるいは、見た目も穏やかで、時に笑いを呼ぶ優しい話し方が「一日一生」の語り口そのままで、親しみやすいことも加わってか、一つ一つのありきたりで、ほんの些細な話の中にも、深い滋味が感じられました。
当日の対談の話は、本と重なる内容も多かったのですが、ライブでご本人から直接話を聴けたことで、その奥深さを思い知るに至りました。
当日の会場は、演劇や芝居をやるような舞台のあるところではなく、企業研修を行う会議室や研修室を広くしたようなところでしたので、目線は僕ら聴衆とほぼ同じ高さ。しかも、僕はかなり前の方に座っていたので（ミーハーなのです）、マイクを通してではなく、地の声を聴けたのが良かったです。
この日の対談で酒井師が繰り返されたこと。まとめれば、
「人生は一日一日の積み重ね。自分が信じ、身の丈に合ったやるべきことを、毎日毎日、愚直に続けていくことが大事。今を大切に生きよ。」
ということになろうかと思います。
これだけだと、至極当たり前のことのように思われるかもしれません。ですが、当たり前と思えることほど、常日頃から意識して実践し続けていくことが、難しいものなのではないでしょうか。
デライトコンサルティングの行動指針にも、「愚直」を謳っています。僕も常に意識しています。
常時「一日一生」を携帯しているのは、実は「愚直」を意識し続けるためでもあるのですが・・・
今回のライブ版「プロフェッショナル」もまた、目頭と脳の中に熱いものが滲む、良い機会となりました。
（もう少し、茂木さんの脳の話も聴けると良かったのですが、その楽しみは次回までとっておきます・・・）

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
